Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Take and evaluate vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to assess patient health status
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and comfort
- Conduct medical imaging procedures like X-rays while adhering to aseptic techniques and radiation safety protocols
- Review and update medical records, ensuring accurate documentation of patient histories, treatment plans, and progress notes in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong oral health habits
- Maintain infection control standards by following HIPAA regulations, sterilization procedures, and proper handling of dental instruments
- Must be able to book their own patient recall
- Should be familiar on how to use Guided biofilm therapy (GBT)
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in a clinical setting
- Proven experience in dental office environments, with familiarity in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred
- Proficiency with dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate documentation and billing purposes
- Hands-on experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing patient records efficiently
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, infection control practices, aseptic technique, and dental assisting procedures including chairside assisting
- Ability to perform patient assessments effectively while demonstrating excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring patient confidentiality at all times
- Prior experience working with pediatric patients is a plus but not required; enthusiasm for working with children is essential
