Duties
- Manage patient scheduling, appointment confirmations, and reception duties using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or AbelDent to ensure seamless patient experiences.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation, including medical records and medical coding, while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments using aseptic techniques and operating sterilization equipment in accordance with infection control standards.
- Assist with chairside procedures by supporting dentists during various treatments such as endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, including taking vital signs and assisting with medical imaging like X-rays and 3D scans.
- Ensure proper handling of dental terminology and anatomy knowledge to facilitate effective communication among team members and with patients.
- Support infection control protocols by monitoring sterilization processes, maintaining equipment, and adhering to IPAC guidelines for a safe clinical environment.
- Coordinate with the dental team on four-handed dentistry practices to optimize workflow efficiency during procedures.
- Manage incoming phone calls, answer patient inquiries professionally, and direct them appropriately within the clinic.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with medical documentation standards such as Epic or other EMR systems used for record keeping and billing purposes.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic environment is highly preferred, especially within general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or AbelDent is essential for managing patient records efficiently.
- Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures is required to uphold safety standards.
- Familiarity with dental assisting tasks including chairside support, taking X-rays, vital signs measurement, and understanding dental terminology is advantageous.
- Experience handling medical imaging devices like X-ray machines or 3D scanners will be beneficial for supporting clinical procedures.
- Strong organizational skills combined with excellent communication abilities are necessary for managing administrative duties effectively.
