Duties

Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs and reviewing medical histories to ensure safe treatment planning
Assist with chairside procedures, including four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort
Capture and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions
Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in electronic health record (EHR) systems
Follow strict infection control protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures, to ensure a safe clinical environment

Qualifications

Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice
Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry preferred; familiarity with first nation dentistry is a plus
Proficiency with dental terminology, medical coding, and documentation review processes
Strong knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, infection control standards, and HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy
Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs accurately and communicate effectively
Knowledge of dental assisting techniques, chairside assisting, and medical imaging procedures
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
