Position Summary:
To oversee the coordination and running of the Dental Assisting Distance (DAD) program, including the on campus and practicum clinical time. To maintain the clinical and practicum portions of the program including developing, planning, organizing, leading, and controlling clinical program activities and ensuring program alignment with regulatory body requirements. To oversee, plan, organize and lead the Dental Radiography Continuing Education program.
- Job Responsibilities:
- Schedule, organize and facilitate the Dental Assisting Distance and Dental Radiography continuing education course.
- Host orientation and onboarding for new dental assisting and dental radiography students
- Hire, train and support new instructors..
- Plan, teach and evaluate clinical skills on campus for each cohort.
- Ensure on campus dental clinic meets all IPAC requirements and Health and Safety requirements
- Host new student information sessions to assist students in securing host dental offices for placement prior to the start of the program.
- Provide extra clinical sessions on campus for students requiring extra hands-on practice and support.
- Design and deliver curriculum that aligns with industry and regulatory standards.
- Provide students with the knowledge and skills required for employment in a dental office setting.
- Instruct theory class online via Zoom as required.
- Facilitate and evaluate student learning in theoretical and clinical settings by utilizing a variety of instructional strategies, techniques and delivery methods to meet the individual learning styles of the students.
- Collaborate with instructors to ensure students are on track with their practical hours in the dental office.
- Work with students to obtain practicums in host dental offices
- Visit host dental offices in Ottawa area to support students and facilitate good relationships
- Support the student as they navigate their practicum in the dental office.
- Ensure on campus dental clinic is fully stocked and all equipment is maintained and functioning, maintaining record logs
- Prepare program and team for CDAC accreditation
- Maintain and audit student files for compliance
- Monitor student grades and attendance for student success
- Facilitate dental team development sessions
Qualifications:
- A certified Level II Dental Assistant with current membership with the Ontario Dental Assistants Association.
- A minimum of 5 years of practical work experience working within a dental clinical setting.
- Previous teaching experience is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated leadership skills including supervision, motivation, and facilitation are preferred.
- Superior communication and organizational skills will be essential to success in this role.

Compensation Package:
- Salary $75,000 - $80,000/year
- Monday to Friday excluding all statutory holidays. Working hours 8am – 4:30pm
