Responsibilities
- Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning, scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
- Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
- Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, treatment options, and post-treatment care to promote long-term dental health.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment notes, medical history updates, and billing information in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and managing medical records securely.
Requirements
- Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations.
- Proven experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments with a focus on pediatric patients preferred.
- Proficiency with dental office management software such as Dentrix.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and medical terminology.
- Familiarity with vital signs measurement, medical imaging techniques, and documentation review processes.
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and collaborate seamlessly with the dental team.
