Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our reputable dental practice on a temporary basis for two months beginning November 18 or as early as November 15 . The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care, perform thorough dental cleanings, and assist in maintaining a smooth and efficient clinical environment. This role offers an opportunity to work in a modern setting utilizing advanced dental technology and EMR systems, with a focus on pediatric and general dentistry. The Dental Hygienist will play a vital role in patient education, assessment, and infection control, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform professional dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by recording vital signs, medical history, and dental health status.
- Assist with chairside procedures such as applying sealants, fluoride treatments, and taking medical imaging.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote overall oral health.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient records using EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
- Review medical records for relevant health information that impacts dental treatment plans.
- Collaborate with dentists and dental assistants to deliver comprehensive care in pediatric dentistry, general dentistry, and other specialties.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Assist in inventory management of dental supplies and ensure the clinic environment remains sterile and organized.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist in a clinical setting, with familiarity in both dental office and dental clinic environments.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, medical coding, and documentation review processes.
- Experience working with pediatric patients and performing pediatric dentistry procedures is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, anatomy knowledge, and medical imaging procedures.
- Prior experience in dental assisting or related roles is beneficial but not mandatory; relevant certifications are required.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages while maintaining professionalism and compassion.
