Job Summary
We are seeking a professional and organized Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing front desk operations with efficiency and a friendly demeanor. This role is essential in providing excellent patient service, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the overall smooth functioning of the dental office. Prior experience in dental or medical office environments, along with proficiency in electronic health records, is highly valued. The Dental Receptionist will play a key role in ensuring a positive patient experience and supporting the clinical team.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly and manage check-in/check-out procedures at the front desk
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments using Abeldent or other scheduling software
- Verify patient insurance information and process payments accurately
- Maintain and update electronic medical records using Epic or similar systems
- Answer multi-line phone systems promptly and professionally, directing calls as needed
- Collect and review patient medical history and update records accordingly
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and correspondence
- Ensure the waiting area is clean, organized, and welcoming
- Coordinate with dental staff to facilitate smooth daily operations
- Handle patient inquiries with professionalism and confidentiality
Skills
- Proven experience as a Dental Receptionist or in a similar front desk role within a dental or medical office setting
- Knowledge of dental terminology and medical terminology relevant to dental practices
- Proficiency with any dental software would be an asset
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to operate multi-line phone systems efficiently
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism
- Office experience that demonstrates strong administrative capabilities
- Knowledge of insurance verification processes and billing procedures is a plus
