Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing front desk operations with professionalism and efficiency. This role requires strong administrative skills, familiarity with dental software (ideally Maxident) and the ability to provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment. We are seeking someone with a dental assisting background that is able to step in to assist dentists when current assistants are absent. The Dental Receptionist will play a vital role in ensuring smooth daily operations and a positive patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and manage patient check-in and check-out processes
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule appointments using Maxident or similar dental practice management software
- Handle multi-line phone systems to answer inquiries, direct calls, and take messages
- Verify patient insurance information and process billing using Maxident or other electronic dental records systems
- Maintain accurate patient records, update personal information, and ensure confidentiality
- Collect payments, co-pays, and outstanding balances at the time of service
- Assist with administrative tasks such as faxing, and correspondence
- Ensure the reception area remains clean, organized, and welcoming
- Collaborate with dental staff to facilitate smooth office operations
- Assist dentists when their current assistant is away due to sickness or holidays
Requirements
- Previous experience as a dental receptionist or in a medical office setting is required
- Dental assistant background preferred
- Proficiency with Maxident or similar electronic medical records systems
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology relevant to dental care
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally
- Office experience demonstrating organizational skills and attention to detail
- Familiarity with front desk operations in a healthcare environment
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining a friendly demeanor
- Knowledge of insurance verification processes and billing procedures is a plus
- Dental Assisting diploma or equivalent required
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 38 per week
