Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Periodontic Assistant to join our growing practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and assisting the dentist during various procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, infection control practices, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Assist the periodontist during surgical and non-surgical procedures.
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment following aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage patient flow and assist with scheduling appointments as needed, functioning as a dental receptionist when required.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions.
- Monitor vital signs and assist in medical imaging when necessary.
- Support pediatric dentistry efforts by creating a welcoming environment for young patients.
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure high-quality patient care across various specialties including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatrics.
Skills
- Proficiency in Dentrix .
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
- Experience with chairside assisting techniques and four-handed dentistry is essential.
- Ability to take accurate X-rays and understand medical imaging protocols.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control measures.
- Experience in a dental clinic setting is highly desirable, along with knowledge of medical documentation and coding practices.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members.
